Our Board
The people who built Medical Pantry weren't looking to start a charity. They were clinicians who kept watching perfectly good supplies get thrown out at the end of a shift, and couldn't stop thinking about where else those supplies could go. That frustration became a warehouse, a volunteer team, a network of partner organisations, and eventually a board of people who share the same conviction.
The directors who govern Medical Pantry bring expertise across clinical nursing, anaesthesia, endocrinology, law, finance and education. Some of them work in hospitals and see the waste problem firsthand. Others bring the governance, legal and financial discipline that turns a good idea into a durable organisation. All of them give their time because they believe the problem is real, the solution is practical, and the work is worth doing properly.
They're here to make sure Medical Pantry stays true to what started it: the belief that a surplus medical supply is never really surplus if someone, somewhere, needs it.

Dr Martin Nguyen
MBBS, BMedSCi, FANZCA, FAICD, DipGov
Founder & Executive Chairman
Martin is an anaesthesiologist and clinician entrepreneur who founded Medical Pantry after watching truckloads of usable medical supplies leave hospitals bound for landfill. He saw the same problem repeat itself across every department he worked in, and decided the fix was logistical, not aspirational.
He holds senior leadership roles across research, education and hospital governance, and is the CEO of WeRoster, a workforce scheduling platform built for hospital medical teams. He brings the same systems-thinking to Medical Pantry, including its growing use of technology to match surplus supply with real community need.
Martin mentors healthcare startups and advises on digital health. At Medical Pantry, he leads strategy and keeps the organisation anchored to the core idea that started it all: the waste is the problem, and redistribution is the solution.

Dr Hanh Nguyen
MBBS BMedSci RACP
Director
Hanh is an endocrinologist at Western Health, where she has practised for a decade and now leads the Diabetes Foot Unit's research program. She is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne, sits on the ANZBMS Therapeutics Committee, and serves as Clinical Co-Chair of the Endocrine Society of Australia's Annual Scientific Meeting Program Organising Committee. In 2025 she was appointed to the ASBMR Task Force on Atypical Femur Fractures.
Her work sits at the intersection of clinical medicine and research, with a particular focus on populations who face significant barriers to care. That focus translates directly to Medical Pantry's mission: the communities most affected by conditions like diabetes and metabolic disease are often the same communities with the least reliable access to medical supplies.
Hanh brings specialist clinical expertise and a researcher's instinct for evidence to the board, helping ensure Medical Pantry's redistribution work is grounded in real clinical need.

Patricia Kitney
RN, DipEd
Director
Patricia is a perioperative clinical nurse and educator with a career spanning operating theatres, universities and hospitals across Australia. She currently holds a combined role as Lecturer at RMIT University and Perioperative Clinical Nurse at Werribee Mercy Hospital.
Over more than 15 years in tertiary education, Patricia led international nursing programs at RMIT, managed continuing education at The Royal Children's Hospital, and spent over a decade as a Clinical Nurse Educator at Western Health. She's the kind of educator who doesn't just run programs, she rebuilds them: tripling student participation in international placements, introducing Australia's first English for Academic Purposes elective in nursing, and receiving RMIT's award for outstanding contribution to teaching.
Patricia brings to Medical Pantry a practical understanding of clinical training needs and a long-standing interest in how medical supplies can be redirected to support education. She works closely with the organisation's education outreach efforts, connecting surplus clinical materials with the universities and training providers that need them most.

Pal Singh
CA, CPA, MBA
Director
Pal is a senior executive with a track record across renewable energy, financial services, defence, logistics and disability services. He has led finance, commercial, technology and procurement functions at ASX and NYSE-listed companies, including serving as CFO of Toll Holdings in Singapore, where the business operated across more than 50 countries with revenues exceeding $10 billion.
He currently runs Ultimate Dental Supplies and directs SEAM (Social Enterprise Asset Management), and has held independent board roles at Eskleigh Foundation and Spectrum MRC, a not-for-profit delivering health, aged care and disability services to migrants in Victoria.
At Medical Pantry, Pal brings financial discipline and commercial acumen to an organisation whose impact depends on running a lean, effective operation. Making sure that ratio holds, and that the organisation is structured to grow without losing its footing, is where Pal's experience counts.

Emma Foreman
RN
Director
Emma is a perioperative nurse who works across anaesthesia and PACU, which means she spends her days in the parts of the hospital where consumable waste accumulates fastest. That front-row seat shaped her conviction that the sector can do better.
She currently serves as President of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation, Victorian Branch, where she leads advocacy for nurses and midwives across the state.
At Medical Pantry, Emma is a regular presence at the warehouse. She works alongside volunteers to assess donated supplies, applying her clinical judgment to ensure what goes back out the door is appropriate, safe, and genuinely useful to the communities receiving it. She also reviews and approves incoming donations, maintaining the quality standards that partner organisations rely on.
